How Our Moving Rates Work
Local moves in the Charleston area are billed by the hour. The crew size sets your hourly rate; the size of your home and its access — stairs, elevators, walk distance, parking — set how many hours the job takes. A larger crew costs more per hour but often costs less overall, because four movers finish a three-bedroom house far faster than two.
The rates below come straight from our online booking system and are current as of August 2026. Every crew has a 2-hour minimum, and we often need a 7-10 day notice to schedule your move.

Labor-Only Moving Services
Packing, Unpacking, Loading, and Unloading of Your Rental Truck
Labor-only help is the most affordable way to book our crews: you rent the truck or portable container, and our movers do the heavy lifting. Crews start at $115 per hour — a fit for loading or unloading a rental truck, a storage unit, or a PODS-style container anywhere in the tri-county.
Dollies, furniture pads, and straps provided for in-town services only. Additional fee for packing supplies. Insurance coverage available only during the packing/unpacking or loading/unloading process. Liability ends once movers leave the premises. Option of $1,000 deductible for full value coverage or $.60 per pound. 2-hour minimum charge. We often need a 7-10 day notice to schedule your move. Additional fees may apply.

Looking for Affordable Movers in Charleston?
Affordable doesn’t mean cut-rate — it means knowing the price before you book. The lowest hourly rate isn’t always the lowest bill: two crews can quote the same rate and finish hours apart. Here’s how to keep a Charleston move affordable:
- Match the crew to the home. A bigger crew finishes faster — on larger homes, it often costs less overall.
- Be packed before the crew arrives. Movers billing hourly while you finish taping boxes is the most expensive packing help you’ll ever buy.
- Consider labor-only. If you can rent the truck, our 2-man labor crew at $115/hour is the budget option.
- Pick your timing. Mid-week, mid-month dates are easier to schedule than end-of-month weekends.
- Sort out parking ahead of time. Downtown and on the peninsula, a spot arranged in advance saves real billed time — narrow streets and long carries add hours.
Our rates are published because we’d rather you know them before you call. Book online with upfront pricing, or ask for a free, no-obligation estimate and we’ll size the crew, flag the access issues, and put the price in writing.

Moving Rates FAQ
How much do movers cost per hour in Charleston, SC?
Our published rates: full-service crews (truck and equipment included) run $135 to $225 an hour by crew size, and labor-only crews run $115 to $195 an hour. Every move has a 2-hour minimum.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes — a 2-hour minimum on every crew. You’re billed the minimum even if the job finishes sooner.
How far in advance should I book my move?
We often need a 7-10 day notice to schedule your move, and end-of-month and weekend dates fill first. Booking earlier gets you the date you want.
What’s included in the full-service rate?
The crew, the truck, and the equipment — dollies, furniture pads, and straps. Packing supplies and specialty items like pianos and gun safes carry an additional charge.
What’s the most affordable way to move in Charleston?
Book a labor-only crew (from $115/hour) and rent your own truck, and be fully packed before the crew arrives — both cut what you pay. Mid-week, mid-month dates are also easier to get on the schedule.
Is my furniture covered if something breaks?
Coverage options are listed with each service above — full value coverage with a $1,000 deductible or $.60 per pound — and our guide to moving coverage in Charleston explains how it works in plain English.
