First, take anything that is breakable (e.g. glass) out of the dresser drawers. Next, check the heaviness of the dresser to see if it will be able to be carried with its current contents. If it is too heavy, take out some or all of the contents until it is at a manageable weight. Once the desired weight is achieved, wrap the dresser in shrink wrap to keep the drawers from falling out. (If you are worried about the dresser getting scratched, put a blanket over the dresser before you wrap it.) After the dresser is wrapped, it will officially be ready to be moved into your new place!
